Tennis is on the upswing again in the United States. And, luckily for us, we live in the best tennis state in the country. There are so many ways to enjoy our sport here in Florida, and finding people to play with is easier than ever. While Florida has some of the premier private tennis clubs, tennis is by no means a sport for the elite. You can find a great match on public courts just about anywhere from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. Another great thing about tennis is the low cost of playing. Public courts are free. Also, beginner's equipment is very inexpensive and easy to find.

Clay court can be just the ticket if you need to take it easy on your body. Not only does the softer surface cushion the impact of your foot steps, it also slows down the game. This second aspect is a real plus for hobby players as it keeps the rallies going longer and increases the pleasure of playing the game. While no free public courts are clay in Pinellas county, there are places like The McMullen Tennis Complex that have clay courts available to the public for an hourly fee. The fee is small, but you will have to plan ahead as their clay courts are booked well in advance.

How Tennis Balls are made

The debate of the larger ball to slow down the Pro game seems to be over. While the debate was popular based on speculation that ATP mens professional tennis was hot for awhile, the conversation appears to be dead.
